Mirko Pittaluga joins the Wave Photonics Team!
Mirko is focused on advancing the capabilities of Wave Photonics to serve the Quantum Information and Computation industry. Leveraging his deep experience in quantum optics and communication, Mirko has previously developed advanced Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) protocols and systems at Toshiba. There, Mirko led the creation of innovative prototypes, successfully transforming them from conceptual designs to real-world deployment in operational network environments.
Mirko’s work includes the first implementation of a phase-based quantum communication protocol, setting a world record for long-distance quantum communications, and demonstrating the first repeater-like quantum communication over operational telecom infrastructure.
He holds a PhD in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from the University of Leeds, earned as a Marie Curie fellow while working at Toshiba’s Quantum Information Group in Cambridge, and a master's degree in Physics from the University of Padova.
